Ook de dijken zijn prachtig bij een ondergaande zon. In de omgeving bevinden zich meerdere jachthavens en natuurgebieden. Teven beschikt Makkum over een van de mooiste stranden van het Ijsselmeer, waar ook onze surf-zeilschool gevestigd is \u00b4Surf&amp;Sail Makkum\u00b4.<\/p>\n<p>Vooral zeilers schatten Makkum hoog in omdat de afstand tot de sluizen van Kornwerderzand, welke\u00a0je toegang geven tot de Waddenzee, zeer gering is.<\/p>\n<p>Het lichte zeeklimaat, de schone lucht, de stilte van het platteland met zijn uitgestrekte horizon, de wereldberoemde aardewerk fabriek Tichelaar die sinds 400 jaar in Makkum gevestigd is, de oude huizen in de dorpskern met de geliefde gevels werken als een trekpleister voor toeristen en regisseurs. Niet voor niets is het waddengebied en de omgeving opgenomen in de wereld erfgoedlijst.<\/p>\n<p>Makkum heeft goede verbinding met de snelweg en binnen een uur is men in Amsterdam of Groningen.<\/p>\n<p>Op een afstand van 17 km ligt Harlingen van waar men de boot kan nemen naar de Waddeneilanden Terschelling en Vlieland.
